American Milkshake: movie review
American Milkshake

Teenagers are jerks (it’s a scientific fact) but if you have one as your protagonist, they need a redeeming quality or two. Jolie Jolson (Tyler Ross) has none: We’re treated to this kid’s would-be sympathetic voiceovers as he slimes his way on to the basketball team, jerks around not one but two pregnant girlfriends, and whines about how much he wishes he were poor and black instead of rich and white. In case you wondered whether or not this was set in the ’90s, characters constantly discuss O.J. Simpson and how the Internet is gonna change everything. Ross shows promise as an actor; wait to see him until he’s cast in a better movie than this.
