Born in 1939, Bette Bourne grew up in the post-war East End when being gay was a crime. He forged a successful acting career alongside Sir Ian McKellen then abandoned the stage to spearhead the fight for gay liberation against the forces of morality represented by Mary Whitehouse, Cliff Richard and the Christian Right. This documentary celebrate the life and times of Bourne including his present fight with actors' union Equity.
