Time Out says

In this fast-paced technological age, hippie communes may seem rather quaint. Yet if this moving documentary teaches us anything, it’s that these days of war and waste should inspire us to at least try to reinvent the world, the way the free-love generation did back in the ’60s and ’70s. This portrait of Black Bear Ranch—a hard-core California commune in which people shared everything from clothes to chores to beds—interweaves vintage footage with contemporary interviews of former members, including actor Peter Coyote. Although the ranch still exists today, it’s now primarily a relic of lost ideals. But the founders continue to wear their counterculture hearts on their sleeves.
