Time Out says

5 out of 5 stars
By now, the most interesting thing about Lynch’s cult-classic debut may be the evidence it offers of how fully his sensibility was formed. The ominous rumblings on the soundtrack, the dolly shots into small crevices, the subversion of the nuclear-family dynamic, the fetishism of ’50s culture: Lynch was already Lynch, even if he subsequently lost his voice with detours into The Elephant Man (1980) and Dune (1984). No matter where he went, however, he never made another movie with a mutant baby or a radiator creature. Those pleasures are all Eraserhead’s own.
