A generation of kids so used to learning by rote that they can’t think for themselves; teens overloaded with homework and extracurriculars; the kind of overwhelming pressure on pupils that leads to physical illness and, in some cases, suicide. Such are the failings of our current educational system, according to Vicki Abeles and Jessica Congdon’s stylistically indifferent, yet still persuasive, call to arms. While the film’s interviews with students, parents and educators tend toward the repetitious, the hammering of the same bullet-point ideas time and again only lends greater urgency to this expos of an increasingly rotten system.—Andrew Schenker
