Time Out says

Tuscany 1971, where lively 10-year-old Mirco suffers an accident and is sent far away to a grim boarding school for the blind. The big issues of friendship, bullying, disability and creativity are touched on in this unusual tale, which manages to keep its humour, nonetheless. The story tells how our hero struggles with his blindness in a cheerless atmosphere of religious oppression, culminating in the production of an epic sound fairy tale. Based on the true story of a professional sound editor, the film reveals how the pupils, many played by young blind actors, rediscover their dreams. Think ‘Cinema Paradiso’, crossed with ‘Dead Poets Society’.
