Time Out says

In Pernille Fischer Christensen’s feature debut, newly single, thirtysomething Charlotte (Dyrholm) moves into a rundown neighborhood and immediately insinuates herself into the life of her neighbor Veronica (Dencik), an introverted transsexual dominatrix who prefers to keep the real world at a distance. (The film’s title refers to the soap opera Veronica watches religiously.) Their initial wariness, softened by a series of quid-pro-quo favors, blossoms into love, with all the complications such a precarious pairing would suggest. With minimal lighting, locations and background music, Soap flirts with Dogma 95 austerity, but really suggests what a daytime drama might be like if it were inhabited by actual human beings.
