The Asphyx

A person's 'asphyx' is his spirit of death, which can be attracted at the moment of dying and trapped, conferring immortality on the subject. This promising notion, combined with intriguing glimpses into Victorian psychical research and a strong cast, get the film off to a good start. Sadly, it soon degenerates into formula and farce, with Stephens' theatrical delivery adding the mortal blow.
