Time Out says

This grand cruise ship hasn’t sailed since the 1960s; these days, it multitasks as a rather muddled tourist attraction, several eating and drinking spots (the bar is a wonderful Art Deco glory) and a hotel. The boat, built in 1936, still looks stately from afar, but it hadn’t aged gracefully in every aspect: It was due for millions of dollars in repairs to prevent it from capsizing. After an extended closure, the renovated ship—now under full control of the City of Long Beach—is once again offering tours ($10) and slated to start overnight stays again soon.

Day Trip Festival

  • Dance and electronic

House music hits the Queen Mary waterfront during this two-day fest. This year’s event, which features two main stages as well as another side one, includes the likes of Kaskade, MK back-to-back with Green Velvet, Cloonee, Mau P, and Nicole Moudaber back-to-back with Paco Osuna.

Fourth of July in Long Beach

This Fourth of July in Long Beach, you’ll find pyro over Queensway Bay around 9pm for a free show easily viewable from most of the Long Beach waterfront’s attractions. If you’d rather watch from the water, Harbor Breeze Cruises has four different boats departing from Rainbow Harbor ($50–$75) on the Fourth. And the Queen Mary is once again partaking in the festivities with an onboard assortment of music and food ($55). In addition, you can see a show on the eastern edge of the city over Alamitos Bay on July 3.
