Time Out says

Kushari Society, in Hamra, is proud to offer customers only the freshest organic, vegan and vegetarian food. As the name suggests there is a strong Egyptian theme with the house speciality being that modern classic – Kushari. This organic ethos could be a reflection of the student vibe and added hipster charm. You're not quite sure how much of the furniture has been made from recycled materials, but you suspect that it’s all of it (in a good way – think Junkyard in Mar Mikhael not hippy squat).

The menu is tantalisingly good, with a wide range of dishes that use only the freshest and most organic produce around. It also prides itself on using produce that has been sourced from local farming co-ops. Whether you are a vegetarian, vegan or simply conscious about what you eat, and its effect on the planet, then the Kushari Society is a good option. It also has large projector screens showing every football game you could want. It might be alcohol free but the mint lemonade and argileh will make up for that.
