Flanking the river and Khlong Banglamphu, which was dug by Lao POWs, this park has Braille-marked paths and maps of attractions, such as the district's last lamphu trees, for which Banglamphu is named, and the octagonal Phra Sumen Fort, one of only two city wall watchtowers to survive.

On weekend afternoons, the park brims with activity, from fire juggling and breakdancing to jams of classical phiphat music. It hosts events like Loy Krathong (November), and gatherings of the indie subculture of contrarian youth. They hawk self-made books, postcards, music and artwork here at the Indy Festival (December) and Bangkok Theatre Festival (November) and in adjacent art bars on Thanon Phra Athit.
