Lumphini Park review Rate it

Named after Buddha's birthplace in Nepal, the capital's best green enclave was donated in 1925 by King Rama VI, whose statue dominates the gate opposite Silom. It's most interesting early and late, when paths encircling its pagoda and lakes (pedalos can be hired) host joggers, t'ai chi classes, mass aerobics, outdoor gym workouts, ballroom dancers and acrobatic takraw games. There's a restaurant to the north-west, and even more picnickers than usual attend free Music in the Park concerts. By night, women solicit along the east side, gays on the west.
