Meguro Gajoen's celebration of Hinamatsuri, or Girls' Day, has become a popular yearly occurrence. This year's edition features hina dolls and tsurushi decorations from three prefectures in the Tohoku region, namely Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima, with a total of around 670 pieces on display. Highlighting the area's strong traditions in marking this special day, the exhibit features a variety of traditional toys alongside dolls that once belonged to Tohoku's samurai families – including a collection of rarities owned by the Katakura clan, lords of Shiroishi Castle in Miyagi and allies of legendary warlord Date Masamune.
