Time Out says

Todai's Komaba dormitories, built in 1935 and torn down in 2001 to make way for a newfangled multi-use building, were famed for their status as an entirely student-administered space inside Japan's premier university. Past residents include Livedoor founder Takafumi Horie, playwright/director Hideki Noda and investigative journalist Takashi Tachibana – all of them, in one way or another, later came to shake the foundations of Japanese society. A rare opportunity to look inside the building that once housed a tightly knit community, this photo show displays the shots of illustrator Tomoko Oosuki, who documented the dorms just before their destruction in summer 2001. Check out highlights from her collection of more than 1,000 photos and dive into the labyrinthine halls of a student residence like no other.
