Time Out says

World-famous coffee authority Kentaro Maruyama – chairman of the Cup of Excellence competition – offers only the classiest Joe at this café, the first Tokyo branch of his Karuizawa-based chain. Since opening in October 2012, Maruyama Coffee has been luring devoted drinkers to its out-of-the-way location in Oyamadai, a couple of stops from Jiyugaoka on the Tokyu Oimachi line. Whether you think it merits a trip probably depends on whether you're the kind of person to balk at paying ¥735 for a French press coffee – albeit one made with a choice of Grand Cru Series beans. Maruyama also offers seasonal single origin varieties and a range of blends – including an Oyamadai-only original – plus espresso drinks and cakes. If you'd rather make your own, pick up some beans and coffee-making equipment while you're there.
