Time Out says

Built on the site of the old Akasaka Grand Prince Hotel, the long-awaited Garden Terrace is sure to achieve instant landmark status in the Kioicho-Nagatacho area – with a total of 38 floors in the main tower and 23 in the residential complex next door, this one competes with sheer scale. The most interesting feature, however, is the fully restored Kitashirakawa Palace, originally built in 1930 for Yi Un, the last crown prince of Korea and lieutenant general in the Imperial Japanese Army. Now rebranded as 'Akasaka Prince Classic House', it will host fancy restaurants, a café and a glittering banquet hall. Look out for additional opening announcements in the months to come.

Open July 27, 2016 (some shops and restaurants from May 10)

What’s on

Kioi Spring at Tokyo Garden Terrace

This green oasis in the centre of Tokyo has cherry blossom trees in full bloom along the Benkei Moat. Visit in the evening between now and April 21 to enjoy the pastel pink blossoms all lit up, with the colour reflecting beautifully off the water below. And if you’re lucky, you’ll even get to see the trees illuminated in rainbow colours for four minutes at 6pm, 7pm, 8pm, 9pm and 10pm every Friday. Tokyo Garden Terrace is open to the public and entirely free to visit, so you can take a casual stroll around the trees.
