Time Out says

Everything you need to know about visiting Wrigley Field (1060 W Addison St, Chicago IL 60613)

Even when baseball’s not in season, there’s plenty to do at this legendary stadium in Wrigleyville. Fans can tour the Friendly Confines, explore the Park at Wrigley, eat and drink the day away from the stands and so much more. Whatever the occasion, there's no such thing as a boring day at Wrigley Field.

Catch a game

Of course, the main attraction here is baseball, and you don't have to be a season ticket holder to partake. The Cubs typically open their season in April and offer a variety of seats for every price point. For first-time visitors and super fans alike, there's nothing quite like sitting in the bleachers with an ice-cold beer and hot dog in hand (though families with small children might want to look elsewhere for seats). Pro tip: Arrive early to watch practice and avoid the mad rush to get in.

The extras

When it comes to ballpark eats, Wrigley Field is a step above the rest. Beyond soft pretzels and nachos, the stadium offers rotating dishes from some of Chicago's top chefs as well as Hot Doug's famous dogs. The historic stadium also plays host to a slew of big-name concerts (think Lady Gaga, Billy Joel and Zac Brown Band) and special events throughout the warmer months of the year.

Park at Wrigley

Located just outside the Friendly Confines at Clark St and Waveland Ave, the Park at Wrigley offers oodles of events and community happenings throughout the week. Check out Green City Market's outpost there, attend a yoga class or run club, see a movie outdoors or enjoy a concert.

Our Chicago editorial team is constantly updating and reviewing the best attractions, activities and venues across the city, so that you're always in the know, with the best of Chicago at your fingertips. Chicago was most recently updated with new tips on June 22, 2017.

What’s on

Green Day and Smashing Pumpkins

The legendary Cali pop-punk trio take the 'Saviors' tour round North America to promote their 14th album of the same name. It's also the 30th anniversary of 'Dookie' and 20th anniversary of 'American Idiot', so you know there will be guaranteed bangers all round. Support comes from long-time friends The Smashing Pumpkins, plus punk royalty Rancid and young, fun foursome The Linda Lindas.

  • Rock and indie

Luke Bryan

Bro-country poster boy Luke Bryan may object to the label being applied to his music, but there's really no easier way to describe twangy songs with titles like 'She's a Hot One' and 'Drinking Again'. Catch the American Idol judge at this mahoosive Wrigley Field show, with support from Bailey Zimmerman, Tracy Lawrence and Chayce Beckham.

  • Folk, country and blues

Pearl Jam

Eddie Vedder and co rumble into town as part of their epic world tour. The Seattle grunge titans are promoting their 12th studio album, 'Dark Matter’, which is their first for four years. Expect raucous newer tunes as well as selections spanning a vast catalog that’s far more compelling than Pearl Jam haters would care to admit.
