Croatia came out top of the world wish list, featuring in 2.71 per cent of travel searches worldwide. It's little surprise given the country's recent surge in popularity, with tourists flocking to its host of reasonably priced coastal cities each summer. Close behind Croatia are other sunny beach spots, including Greece (2.54%) Turkey, Thailand (2.47%) and Spain (1.99%).

The map also showed where Croats want to disappear to when the tourists come flooding in. Croatia's most lusted-after destinations were fairly exotic: the Maldives came out top (8.8%), closely followed by Thailand (8.6%) and Malta (7.8%).
