This exceptionally lovely café/bar/gallery was opened in 2010 by designer Suzana Colarić, known for her work on several hotels and larger projects such as the
Branimir Centre in
Zagreb, and is a staunch favourite among
Grožnjan’s cafés. Low tables, either glass-topped or solid wood, wicker chairs, and comfortable couches make up the stone-walled and wood-beamed interior, tastefully scattered with art and objects by Colarić or other local designers – but it never feels cluttered. There is an emphasis on recycled and natural materials; as you enter, there’s a lamp made from silkworm cocoons, and table bases made from driftwood. Though pricey for Croatian standards, coffee is complemented by delicious cakes and other snacks (including superb bread) and mostly local or organic. Chilled music helps to set the laidback, indulgent mood.
