Time Out says

Striking medieval surroundings showcase the occasional contemporary art venture

Gruyères castle, one of the most prestigious in Switzerland, towers majestically above the medieval town of the same same, at the heart of the green pre-Alpine foothills that produce the famous cheese. Built as a fortress in the 13th century, it was transformed over the centuries into a stately residence and is now a state museum.

Eight centuries of historical furnishings become the occasional showroom for contemporary art in an arresting combination.
