Buffet Bar Sunnegga

While the menu at Buffet Bar Sunnegga won’t blow you away – it is standard mountain fare – the views from its panoramic sun terrace are hard to beat. The self-service restaurant above Zermatt lays claim to one of the best angles of the Matterhorn: think the classic, chiselled summit you see in photos. It’s something of a sight to gaze at while sipping a glass of local wine. Incidentally, ‘sunnegga’ means ‘sun’ in the local Valais dialect, and the sun terrace, which has space for 350 people, occupies a warm spot. You can ski in, or take the Sunnegga Funicular, which climbs up inside the mountain.
