2B for Hair’s spotlit entrance gives the impression of entering a different world – and in many ways, you are. High above Zurich Bellevue, Benjamin Zuber’s slick hair salon is an urban retreat. From the deep brown leather chairs that are made for sinking into to the foot rests by the hair washing sinks – a genius touch – rest and relaxation are at the fore. There is also an undeniable air of cool, with Maurice Haas portraits decorating the otherwise bare walls. But you won’t find snooty service with an eye roll here. Nothing is too much trouble for Benjamin and his small team, who, working to the philosophy that hair is an extension of personality, endeavour to understand how you like to look. What made our visit stand out was the attention to detail – hair scrubbed until it squeaked and coiffed with perfection that resulted in bouncy but not overdone waves. Little wonder that 2B for Hair, which is among Zurich’s top names in hairdressing, counts high profile sportspeople, musicians and fashion industry folk to its client list.
Other nice touches include the indulgent products by Aveda and Benjamin’s own label 2B for Hair; the option to enjoy a manicure while you have your hair done; and the complimentary five-minute massage you get upon arrival. The only downside? That the experience has to come to an end.
Prices start from CHF 210 for a women’s cut and blow dry, or CHF 135 for men. Booking in advance is recommended but not necessary.
