Situated 1,200 metres above sea level with amazing views of the Blümlisalp Massif, Kandersteg is a small resort town chock full of traditional wooden chalets. In summer, it offers a base for some excellent hikes and during winter it's all about the snow. Kandersteg hosts various events throughout the year including the fabulous Belle Epoque week in January and an outdoor cinema in summer. The area features two lakes - Lake Oeschinen - accessed by a restored vintage cable car and the Blausee, renowned for its beautiful deep-blue water.
