With the summer heat all gone now, some Tokyoites might be feeling a little melancholic: no more beer gardens, beach parties or neighbourhood festivals. Still, you shouldn't let the changing of the season dampen your spirits, as autumn is actually known as the most appetite-inducing time of the year in Japan, perfect for exploring the city's culinary diversity. The Grand Hyatt, the Roppongi hotel known for its excellent restaurants and frequent seasonal parties, is one spot worth checking out – as we did on October 5. Here's some photographic evidence of what went down:

The hotel’s spacious banquet room on the second floor was all fancied up for the occasion, as were the guests, who politely adhered to the dress code and came wearing ‘something burgundy’. Even the chefs got in on the act.

Although the coming of autumn itself sure is reason enough to celebrate, this party also marked the re-opening of the hotel's refurbished bridal lounge, Celebrate, as well as the opening of in-house fragrance boutique Fueguia 1833. Finally, it functioned as the debut performance for the Grand Hyatt's new executive chef, German Andreas Fuchs.

Throughout autumn, the hotel's restaurants and bars will be offering an exclusive selection of gourmet treats, made with abundant seasonal produce. Bring your friends or invite that special someone – reservations are taken now. And if you're looking to go all out, consider the special accommodation plans featuring contributions from Fueguia, the aforementioned fragrance brand.
