More thinking Outside the Box from Brendon Burns

Australian stand-up Brendon Burns is fed up with seeing the same old inebriated hecklers, attracted by cheap drinks and post-comedy discos, in the same old venues. So he's currently on the road with his Outside the Box concept – a bunch of shows in venues that aren't your usual comedy haunts.

He arrives in Bristol to play The Cube on Friday February 13. His 8pm show sold out weeks ago, but he's since added a second performance at 9.30pm and there are still tickets.

Taking his Outside the Box concept to its logical extremity, we caught up with Brendon to find out where else he'll play when he learns how to suspend reality for a month or two…

The Great Wall of China
'It's the Great Wall of China! We could claim it's the only gig ever seen from space. Although, that wouldn't be entirely true'.

Anywhere you can see the Northern Lights
'There must be a particular vanity attached to this one. As everyone looks skywards, there I am, jumping up and down insisting I've got a killer joke about it'.

Mutitjulu
'The Puritjarra people have a community set up on the eastern side of Uluru. It's an angle of the rock not normally seen. And I think it's a community you have to be asked into. So that'd be pretty cool to gig there, outside, as the sun set on the rock'.

Joshua Tree
'Around a campfire, as everyone takes mushrooms. I hear I'm a pretty decent anchor. Apparently when others are tripping, that's when I suddenly make the most sense'.

More things to do on Time Out Bristol.
