Maverick winemaker, brand-builder and entrepreneur Bruce Jack has notched up another first, with the opening this week of Cape Town’s first-ever ‘cellar door in the sky’, offering a rooftop wine-tasting destination in the heart of the buzzy suburb of Sea Point.
Jack@Skye finds a home on the rooftop pool deck of The Hyde Hotel and offers an impressive tasting journey through the vast portfolio of Bruce Jack wines. All in all, there are 37 different wines to choose from, as well as the Cluver & Jack Single Estate Cider. Certainly don't miss th 'Ghost in the Machine' range of experimental wines.
And if 37 wines all feels a little confusing? Brand ambassador Awonke Tyumse is on hand to pour and explain the wine flights, which offer a taste of the Western Cape’s remarkable terroir.
There’s also the option to upgrade to your choice of wine and canapé pairings, where you might find a fresh line fish tataki paired with Bruce Jack Lifestyle Sauvignon Blanc, or the Bruce Jack ‘Flag Of Truce’ Pinotage alongside a mini charcuterie skewer of salami, parmesan, olives and sundried tomato.
Take your pick between laid-back indoor lounge-style seating, out on the open-air terrace, or in one of the cosy cocktail nooks. Can’t bear to leave? There’s a dinner menu too, which will pair nicely with the premium Bruce Jack heritage range of wines.
Jack@Skye is open for wine pairings and tastings from Tuesday to Saturday from 12pm – 7pm. The Skye Rooftop Bar is open daily, and until late.
