Second Edinburgh cat café on its way

It’s just like the old saying goes – you wait ages for a cat café and then two arrive at once.

Last weekend saw the opening of Maison de Moggy, a Stockbridge pop-up café home to ten cats (and it's only fair to warn you: that link we just posted leads to a cat cafe photo gallery that could derail your entire day). It has a dining area where customers can spend time with the kitties over a cup of tea and a slice of cake, plus a downstairs relaxation lounge providing a cosier experience with the cuddliest cats. Sadly, the term 'pop-up' is as temporary as it sounds, with the café only granted a licence until June (after which we're assured they'll be seeking more permanent premises).

Thank goodness, then, for Cattitude, a permanent cat caff that's planning to open in Marchmont this spring. The team behind it plan to have between ten and 15 cats at a time, fostered from the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home, residing at the café. If visitors happen to become too attached to their new feline friend, they’ll have the chance to give them a fur-ever home (after completing all the formalities with EDCH) as all of the cats will be up for adoption.

Paw-some. Purr-fect. And, er, a-meow-sing? Ok, maybe not that last one.

Maison de Moggy currently resides at 26 Hamilton Place, Stockbridge. Cattitude will open at a to-be-confirmed Morningside address sometime in spring.
