With a Michelin-starred restaurant (Number One), an acclaimed spa, the elevated service standards you would expect from a Rocco Forte hotel and a clock tower that has been a defining feature of the Edinburgh skyline for more than a century, the Balmoral pretty much has the lot. The rooms and suites, some of which have iconic castle views, factor modern lines and design elements into an Edwardian fabric for an overall package that easily merits five-star status. Other amenities include the Palm Court, great for tea in the afternoon and champagne in the evening, an amenable brasserie, and a recently refurbished bar.

Stayed there for 3 nights last month and it was over the top!! Only wish they had free wifi in rooms and converters given to guests as they check-in.
