Tom and Thomas (2002)
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Struggling artist and single dad Paul (Bean) is trying to come to terms with the death of his wife and do the right thing by his adopted son, eight-year-old Thomas, who doesn't make friends easily and is failing at school. Thomas is also having vivid dreams about his 'imaginary' friend Tom - a boy, around his age, who's in danger, having witnessed a child-napping at the Dotheboys-style home where he lives. Dickensian caricatures Bancroft and sidekick Finch are determined to silence him. Will Thomas be able to save him? While Johnson, playing Tom and Thomas, does a creditable job, Dutch writer/director Lammers' schmaltz fest is unlikely to appeal to any but the youngest and most naive of audiences.Author: JFu
