Movie review

From Time Out Online

Fans of Bouli Lanners's previous films or indeed of his performances, most memorably for Gustave de Hervern and Benoît Delépine might find themselves disappointed by this amiable but ultimately too soft-centred tale of three adolescent boys spending their summer on none too respectable pursuits. It starts well enough, with brothers Zak and Seth teaming up with likewise mischievous teen Dany on a journey in search of drink, drugs, money and fun – not to mention respite from their families but as it proceeds the slight, intermittently amusing story begins to feel increasingly directionless, until the inevitable threat of violence makes itself increasingly but none too convincingly felt. The performances are engaging, the use of the Belgian landscape is expressive, but the film just doesn'tadd up to very much.
