French filmmaker Claire Denis ('White Material', '35 Shots of Rum', 'Beau Travail') returns with a drama starring Vincent Lindon and Chiara Mastroianni. The film tells of a ship's captain, Marco, who is called back to Paris by his sister, Sandra, who is having serious upheavals in her personal life. Sandra's husband has killed himself, her daughter has been committed and she's convinced that a powerful businessman is to blame. Denis's style of filmmaking is always distinctly personal and her storytelling always offers more than a touch of poetry. Some of her chief interests are the movements of people and the relationships between different communities, and it's more than likely that those same themes will emerge again here.
