Digimon Digital Monsters – The Movie

Time Out says

Despite being another sub-standard TV merchandising tie-in, this animé monster movie is, if anything, a little more endurable than both Pokémon flicks. Obviously, the level of animation won't set the world on fire - it's fuzzy and flat - but there are occasional flourishes from the design team. The action takes place mostly in cyberspace, where an evil Digimon (digital monster) is messing with the Internet and the world's email systems. Time for the technically literate DigiDestined (eight spikey-haired kids) to summon their own friendly Digimons and do what they gotta do. Good to see a kids' movie address a few bang up to date issues. Indeed, some of Jeff Nimoy's translated dialogue is rather witty. The peppy soundtrack, too, is ripe for the Internet generation. But the film's still poppycock. (The US version consists of three Japanese Dejimon shorts.
