Time Out says

Clumsy adaptation of John Herbert's play (he scripted himself) about homosexual brutalisation in men's prisons. If you believe in a prison that tolerates Michael Greer's flamboyant queen, then you'll probably also believe in Wendell Burton's progress from cute/butch innocence to rapist in the showers.

Lefty

By todays Standards; This Film is a Cult classic or Should be ,the Characters are likable ,making the best of a bad situation,Queenie is funny ,friendly and trys to Help, mona is sweet, smitty, cool too ,david zooey hall ,cunning ,tough. We've got to remember this is a canadian film and its 1970 ,where smoking pot was ooooh so dangerous ,oh that life were that simple again ,the rape scene ; Nothing horrific by OZ's standards, you barley see anything, This is more a movie about Control,Growing up quick, and Taking a stand !
