I Declare War

Now this one looks like a genuine oddity: a kids’ game of capture the flag in the local woods gets serious when their stick-guns and rotten tomato grenades suddenly become real. But is it just make believe, or is something more sinister going on? Pitched somewhere between indie bleakness and ‘Goonies’-style adolescent adventure, ‘I Declare War’ has divided the critics after a run at last summer’s big festivals. Some found its combination of serious and silly charmingly original, while others thought the film was something of a mess.
