Time Out says
Tom Dooley (Belushi) is an unorthodox but dedicated narcotics officer, possessed of a motormouth, a battered car and an unpartnerable personality. Following a lead, he persuades a colleague to let him have a sniffer-dog so that he can investigate a suspected illegal shipment of drugs by bad guy Lyman (Tighe). The only dog available (special agent K-9, geddit?) is Jerry Lee, a good snifer but a touch unhinged after previous scrapes with malevolent hoods. From here on in it's the odd-couple scenario, with lots of jokes about disobedience, and graduation from enforced stand-off to grudging respect and finally mutual love between man and dog. Daniel directs with a light touch, clearly aimed low enough for juvenile audiences; but Belushi ain't the comic genius of all time, and it's a lot of footage to account for with a silent mutt for a foil.Author: WH
