A cacophony of abstract action-horror mayhem, this fifth entry in the video-game-inspired franchise has superheroine Alice (Milla Jovovich) killing zombies as per usual as she tries to escape an underwater complex. The story of ‘Resident Evil: Retribution’ reintroduces familiar places and faces, including Michelle Rodriguez’s resurrected angel of death, and it makes little sense. No matter, though – from the opening, viewed-in-rewind set piece to a sweeping final image of apocalyptic warfare, director Paul WS Anderson uses slow-motion 3D to way-over-the-top effect, while again casting Jovovich as the ultimate in badass sexiness. It’s a late franchise entry that reduces genre elements to their beautiful-nightmare visual core.

Really enjoyed this installment, good fun and lots of action as usual. The 3D was really great actually, and why do people over analyze films like this, they are fun, loud and a little bit crazy, and very very enjoyable. Looking forward to the next one.

This was watchable but only just,i mean how many zombies do you have to watch get killed before you say enough is enough??clearly by the ending not enough. But i was stumped on the part where Alice takes care of her fake daughter where she was created in a fake under ground world but when in the 'real' world above(via a lift) the little girl is alive?Adding michelle rodriguez did nothing to stimulate the action scenes. 3d was absolute rubbish(as per usual). Dvd if you must

I have to disagree with the previous review but then its a good thing that we are not all the same. I have enjoyed the Resident Evil films right from the start and I am definately not a teenage boy. Milla Jovovich is not starting to show her age, she looks fabulous as usual and the film is one big adrenaline rush. Yes there is no new storyline here, but that's not why we are watching this type of film. We want the action, the kick-ass ladies and the good looking guys and the rush of all the monsters and undead. This film delivers it all, just dont expect to be watching Downton Abbey and you will enjoy yourself. My friends and I did immensely and we can not wait for the next sequel to follow. Rock on Milla.

a la carte crap...........really rather enjoyed it. 6/10 (3D only, certainly wouldn't bother with the 2D DVD version)

I am afraid this is all style over substance. Despite the codly added on ending "leading" to an inevitable sequel it really is time to put a stop to the films. The plot, such as it is, merely looks like a CGI with real actors going through the levels of the video game. Jovovich is starting to how her age and the sad fact is that despitec a black lycra S&M style outfit both Guillory in a fetching skintight blue outfit and Li in a seriously sexy slit red dress and heels outshine her in the looks department. Time to call it a day guys. Its worth 2 stars unless you are a teenage boy watching it on DVD in the prvacy of your own room in which case you might want to give it four stars.
