Really? Again? Well, it has been 16 years since Baz Luhrmann's smash 'n' grab raid on the Bard's most beloved romance, and movie memories are notoriously short. This time around, the selling point seems to be a screenplay by 'Downton Abbey' scribe Julian Fellowes, so expect a staunchly conservative adaptation with none of Luhrmann's gangland antics. Italian director Carlo Carlei seems a deeply peculiar choice – his last English language film was long-forgotten dog movie 'Fluke' in 1995, though he has worked consistently in his native land. The cast, however, seems well chosen: Hailee Steinfeld ('True Grit') seems like a very strong option as Juliet, while Doglas Booth (Romeo) impressed greatly with his turn as Pip in last year's BBC take on 'Great Expectations'. The cast is rounded out with reliable names like Damian Lewis, Paul Giamatti (a fine choice as Friar Laurence) and Lesley Manville.Release details
