Ordsall is an unlikely setting for this splendid Grade-I listed house, which comprises elements of medieval, Tudor, Stuart and Victorian construction. The building has been undergoing a £12 million redevelopment, which has seen the restoration of many of its original features: the original chandelier, oak timbers and wall sconces in the Great Hall will, for example, be on display when the hall reopens to the public in mid-2011.
