Pies are simply an institution and British Pie Week (March 2-8) pays homage to all varieties and options of the iconic dish. Here’s where you can pick up some pastry goodness in Manchester and join in with the celebrations.

Pieminister, Northern Quarter
A brand that needs no introduction – Pieminister are well-known for their wide selection of tasty pies made using quality ingredients, and they're all available to eat in or take away at their NQ site. Along with classic carnivore options like the Moo, Chicken of Tarragon and Free Ranger they also sell Vegetarian Society approved goodies such as the Heidi and the Wild Shroom pies.

Pie & Ale, Northern Quarter
‘It’s all about the pie’ is the motto of Pie & Ale, the sister venue of Bakerie. Meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans are all catered for and all of the pies are served with mash and lashings of gravy.

Pi, Chorlton and Altrincham
Fancy a Pieminister pie but don’t want to trek into the city centre? Pi's outlets in Chorlton and Altrincham combine a range of hearty pies with draught and bottled beers from across the globe.

The Dockyard, MediaCity
MediaCity’s first pub includes a pie of the day on its menu. It comes with mushy peas, gravy and a choice between fries, mash or sweet potato fries.

Albert’s Shed, Castlefield
Castlefield favourite Albert’s Shed is more known for its Italian inspired menu but pies are also available as both starters and mains – so you can have them for both courses if you wish!

Great North Pie Co, Altrincham
These artisan pie makers regularly appear at farmers markets across the North West but they’ve now set up a more permanent home in Altrincham’s Market House.

Robinsons Bakery
If it is a pork pie you're after, visit Robinsons Bakery. They regularly appear at markets across Greater Manchester and have a stall at the Piccadilly Gardens street food market every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
