Royal Exchange brings in Sunday shows

The Royal Exchange is to introduce regular Sunday performances – making it one of the few theatres in the country to do so.

The theatre has opened on Sundays in recent years for family events, exhibitions and for entry into its craft shop, but this is the first time it will run performances on Sundays.

The first Sunday shows will be Arthur Miller’s ‘The Crucible’ and Bruntwood Prize-winning play ‘So Here We Are’ by Luke Norris on October 4.

Other Sunday performances over the coming months will include ‘The Chair’, ‘Pomona’ and ‘Into The Woods’.

Sarah Frankcom, artistic director, explains the reasons for the move.

‘Adding in performances on a Sunday was a way we could make ourselves even more accessible for our audiences,’ she says. ‘After a busy day at work or because of family commitments getting to an evening show can be a challenge for some, opening the doors on a Sunday was a way to ensure that those people have the opportunity to come and see the work we’re doing at the Exchange.’
