This week sees the start one of the most significant festivals of Spanish and Latin American culture in the UK.

VIVA is now in its 21st year and continues to go from strength to strength, with the 2015 festival spreading itself across three different weekends and two venues, taking in both Cornerhouse, which hosts for the last time before it closes, and HOME, which opens soon.

To kick things off, Thu Mar 5 sees a gala opening with the premiere of a new comedy by Santi Amodeo, ‘Quien Mato a Bambi?’ (‘Who Killed Bambi?’). The director will both introduce the film and take part in a post-screening Q&A and your ticket includes entry to the opening party. Other films being screened include ‘Maria y el Arana’ (‘Maria and Spider’), ‘Os Fenomenos’ (‘Aces’) and ‘Feriado’ (‘Holiday’).

This first weekend of screenings and events is followed later in the year by a season of Mexican films taking place at HOME from Thu Jun 18 to Sat Jun 21. Another event will take place later still, with dates yet to be confirmed.

Full details of all screenings, talks and events are on the Cornerhouse website.
