High tea has become fashionable here in Penang and there are quite a few places offering this in-between meal with an array of cakes, finger sandwiches, pies, scones and a range of tea. In that sense, Rasa Sayang Resort’s Spice Market Café in Batu Ferringhi stands out from the rest.
Besides the usual high tea fare they have at RM30++ between 2.30pm and 5.30pm each afternoon, they will introduce a tea of only scones and tea from Dec 15 during these hours.
At RM28++ for two scones and a pot of tea, the offer include whipped cream and a range of jams. However, it’s the one with imported clotted cream that’ll add a difference to the scones experience at RM35++. What’s more, the clever pastry chefs of the resort has concocted a walnut scone as part of the line-up. With the crunchy texture and light woody flavour of the walnut, the buttery scone is truly pleasing. Now, if you add smooth, feathery and lush clotted cream onto it, the experience becomes an addictive one.
Besides the walnut scone, the promotion entitles you to a choice of either elegant vanilla scone or one with raisins. I’d recommend the walnut and the vanilla – one textured and one elegant in its simplicity, you really can’t go wrong! Su Aziz
