Located on the ground floor of Tesco in Tanjung Tokong, this Mizi branch offers a simple and casual ambience. Known for their value for money Western menu, expect to get what you pay for in terms of both service and quality of food - this is a no frills place. Their extensive menu consists of a range of pastas, sandwiches, meats, seafood, soups and salads. Although there are local favourites on the menu, at the time this review was done, they were not yet available.
Here, a starter starts from RM6 and a steak dish is anywhere between RM28 and RM38. Fish dishes such as Fish Cordon Bleu is RM16.50 and it is a thick fish fillet wrapped around a large slice of chicken ham and cheese, coated in bread crumbs and deep fried. It tastes alright and the bread crumb coating is crunchy despite its thickness.
However, their portions are generous and the dish comes with blanched vegetables and skinned, boiled potatoes. Their mushroom soup at RM9 is creamy and the chopped mushrooms give a nice texture to each spoonful. Basically, the place offers a nice introduction to Western fare at very affordable prices and food is served at efficient speed during lunch time where their 3-course set menu is RM25. In this set you may order any soup or main course from the menu. Should you choose to order a meat or steak dish, it will be RM6 additional to the set menu price.
For dessert there's unlimited scoops of ice cream included in the lunch set or RM6 as an ala carte order. Don't expect to be served the ice cream though, it is a self service deal and you're welcome to all six of their ice cream flavours. Go easy to avoid brain freeze! Su Aziz
