If you’re ready to zhuzh up your walls with a piece of real artwork, you’ve now got all the more reason to take that big step. For one night only on Thursday, May 16, Barnardos is joining forces with emerging and established artists to raise money for a good cause by throwing a mixed-media art show in the Cellblock Theatre at the National Art School in Darlinghurst.
Enjoy gourmet canapes and beverages while browsing a select curation of donated pieces including sculpture, photography, paintings and printworks. If something takes your fancy, you can make a bid online in the silent auction – it opens a week earlier on Thursday, May 9, and closes at 10pm on the night of the art show. Award-winning musicians Zaki Duo are in charge of the music, so expect genre hopping beats as they perform everything from pop songs to classical pieces on guitar and violin.
In addition to the artworks that will be listed for bidding ahead of the event from artists including Liz Payne, Gemma O'Brien, Antoinette Ferwerda and Andrew Rovenko, some last minute pieces will also be added on the night. An original painting from mural artist Sindy Sinn, which he will create at the Barnardos Head Office in Ultimo ahead of the event, will be among the additions.
In line with the night's theme of ‘Fearlessly Optimistic’ the funds raised will go towards Barnardos’ safety and prevention programs, which are committed to improving the wellbeing of children in need and creating a better future for them.
Tickets are $50 and you can grab yours here.
