Less a subcultural portrait than a case study in cinematic complicity, Ian Palmer's dozen-years-in-the-making doc follows two feuding Irish families engaged in epic bouts of bare-knuckle fistfighting. The Quinns and the Joyces are relatives who fell out over an '80s pub brawl gone awry; decades of trash-talking videotapes and bloody outdoor beatdowns later, these clans of punch-drunk cousins are unable to stop the cycle of violence. Palmer's acknowledgement of his own involvement in, and thrill at watching, these events speaks volumes, but simply showing generations of pasty, fat men pounding each other to a pulp shouldn't be mistaken for an in-depth exploration of Gaelic machismo, or of why these Travelers need perpetual dustups to fuel their sense of pride.
