Birmingham to host BBC Music Awards in December

Ellie Goulding, Little Mix, Mumford & Sons, Hozier, OMI, Little Mix and One Direction have been confirmed as performers for the second BBC Music Awards, which will be held at Birmingham's 15,000 capacity Genting Arena on Thursday December 10.

The 2015 BBC Music Awards will take place from 4-6pm and will be broadcast the same evening on BBC One, Radio 1, Radio 2 and on the BBC website.

Hosted by Chris Evans and Fearne Cotton, the event will feature five awards: British Artist of the Year and International Artist of the Year, which will be decided by the BBC Music panel, Song of the Year, which will be voted for by the public, and an award for a BBC Introducing artist.

This year there will be a new award – Live Performance of the Year – which will be given to the band or artist considered to have delivered the standout moment of the year. 

The inaugural BBC Music Awards in 2014 were held at London's Earls Court saw Ed Sheeran crowned as British Artist of the Year, with Pharrell Williams taking the awards for International Artist of the Year and Song of the Year, for his song 'Happy'. Welsh rockers Catfish and the Bottlemen won the BBC Introducing award.

More bands and artists for this year's show will be announced over the coming weeks.
