Anyone who has been near the Bullring over the last few days will have spotted some curious signs declaring 'The bull comes alive'. Around dusk this evening, all will become clear as art installation 'Taurus Geodesica' is revealed.

The 15ft sculpture, nicknamed the 'Disco Bull Head', has been created and designed by American artist Josh Harker and will come to life every evening from tonight until October 8.

However, before it does, the show will be preceded by performances from a number of local music, dance and cultural groups including Swing Express, Pantasy Steel Band, Eternal Taal, Siobhan Collins McCathy Ballet group, and Rhythm Junkiez.

Similar to a previous project of Harker's – the 'Shogyo Mujo Skull' at the 2014 Burning Man festival – Disco Bull Head is an innovative piece of 3D art that showcases the latest in projection mapping technology, creating a light installation unlike anything seen in Birmingham before.

During the Disco Bull Head performances, shoppers can get involved by taking selfies with the bull and sharing them through their social media using the #DiscoBullHead hashtag. Doing so means you could be in with a chance of wining a daily £50 gift voucher for the best picture.

Harker said; 'I was thrilled to be commissioned by Bullring shopping centre to create the Disco Bull Head. To bring my work to the UK and work with the team on bringing this vision to life has been such an amazing experience and I hope the people of Birmingham enjoy what we have created.'
