Time Out says

This city-centre beer hall has a theatrical side, making it the unlikely venue for a variety of performances

There’s nothing quite like sitting on a table with a stein in hand as a Shakespearian actor performs a moving soliloquy.

Bristol’s best impersonation of a German beer hall has, for the last four years, also hosted theatre productions, alongside its traditional functions as a bar and live music venue. Programming varies wildly: site-specific promenade performances can be held the day after The Wurzels host a good old-fashioned West Country knees-up.

From Bristol companies to international tours, the Bierkeller Theatre is as likely to host Gothic horror seasons as it is acting workshops. It’s also closely linked to Bath Spa University, providing students hands-on experience in theatre mechanics, as well as offering work experience and internships to students and recent graduates.
