Always wanted to try The Pot Luck Club, TTK Fledgelings or Salon, but can’t quite make the budget stretch that far?

With the cool days of Autumn settling onto the Mother City, Luke Dale Roberts has announced that all of his restaurants – in Cape Town and Johannesburg – will launch a value-driven prix fixe menu from March 29 until October 31, 2024.

A prix fixe menu is a meal, usually consisting of several courses, that is offered at a fixed price. That means you can take your seat knowing exactly what your wallet is in for… aside from any drinks and gratuity, that is.

At The Pot Luck Club – with its remarkable rooftop location in Woodstock’s Old Biscuit Mill precinct – you’ll find an impressive six-course lunch (only) on offer for just R450 per person. It’s a menu that begins with a delicious bread board of roosterkoek served with whipped butter, babaganoush, harissa, garlic and marinated olives before moving on to some of the Pot Luck’s new plates and ‘greatest hits’. There’s a new take on the popular fish taco, the more-ish chickpea and goat’s cheese fries, and – course – the opulent smoked beef fillet with truffle café au lait sauce.

Downstairs at SALON – one of Time Out's 25 Best Restaurants in Cape Town – diners can opt for the reduced six-course prix fixe menu for lunch and dinner, at R795 per person. This is in addition to the signature eleven-course Journey menu

Here Dale Roberts’ ‘Journey Around the World’ menu takes inspiration from the range of countries in which this acclaimed chef has unrolled his knives. Working with Executive Chef Carla Schulze they have created a small, focused, and interactive culinary experience that ranges from Mexico’s chipotle tuna Caesar salad and Italian tortellini of kingklip, prawn and fennel extraction, to the superb Korean beef ‘Kalbi’ fillet.

There also superb value on offer at TTK Fledgelings. In the space that once hosted Dale Roberts’ award-winning restaurant The Test Kitchen, TTK Fledgelings is both upscale bistro and a training ground for future chefs without the means to attend culinary school or hospitality training. At Fledgelings staff undergo hands-on training in a professional restaurant environment, all while turning out exceptional food.

At TTK Fledgelings the four-course prix fixe lunch menu includes smoked trout with pistachio, kudu Bresaola, pork belly with Thai-style butternut broth, before ending with Muscadel poached pear, vanilla ice cream and cinnamon crumb.

Menus are subject to change, and both vegetarian and pescatarian options are available.
