Impromptu jam sessions are a staple here, and outfits like the Dubliners play regularly. While the music really pulls in the tourists, O'Donoghue's really pulls in all sorts of customers: genuine locals and visitors, young and old. While the pub itself can be a little claustrophobic (especially mid session) there's an excellent back alley smoking area, where you can (after a fashion) catch your breath.
